Channe ki Dal

(Serves 4)






Ingredients



  1. 1 cup chana dal (split chickpeas)

  2. 4-5 tomatoes finely chopped

  3. 2-3 green chilies finely chopped

  4. 1 tbsp grated ginger

  5. Fresh coriander

  6. 2 tbsp ghee

  7. Salt to taste

  8. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

  9. 1.5 tsp red chili powder

  10. 2 tsp dry mango powder

  11. 1 tsp coriander powder

  12. 1 tbsp cumin seeds

  13. 1/2 tsp asafetida


Procedure




For boiling


  1. Wash both the dal.

  2. Take a pressure cooker and add washed dal.

  3. Add 2.5 cups water, 1 tsp salt and turmeric powder.

  4. Cover it with lid and give 3 whistles.



For Tadka


  1. Take big kadai and heat ghee.

  2. Add cumin seeds and asafetida after a min add grated ginger.

  3. Add finely chopped tomatoes and green chilies, mix well.

  4. Cook it for 10-12 mins on low medium flame.

  5. Add fresh coriander and mix well.

  6. Add spices and cook further for 10 mins.

  7. Your tadka is ready.


For Channe ki dal


  1. Add boiled dal with water on the tadka.

  2. Let it cook on low flame for 15-20 mins.

  3. Keep stiring in between.



For serving


Serve hot with phulka and enjoy
