Dhokla

(Serves 3-4)





Ingredients


For Dhokla


  1. 2 cup besan

  2. Grated ginger and green chili

  3. Salt to taste

  4. Pinch turmeric powder

  5. Water


For Tadka


  1. 1 tbsp mustard seeds

  2. 7-8 curry leaves

  3. 4-5 green chilies sliced in half

  4. 2 tsp sugar

  5. 1 bowl water

  6. 1 tsp oil

  1. Take a mixing bowl

  2. Add besan, grated ginger and green chili, salt and turmeric powder.

  3. Mix well

  4. Add 1•5 cup water and whisk well till no lumps left

  5. At the time of making Dhokla, Add 2 tsp eno and whisk well.

  6. Grease well the aluminum tin bowl

  7. Take a cooker or big pan, keep stand in it and add water, lower than the stand level and bring it to boil

  8. Add eno in the batter and whisk it again.

  9. Add the batter in the aluminum tin bowl and tap down the down so that it get smooth from the upper layer

  10. Keep that tin bowl on the stand in the pan or cooker

  11. Cover it with a lid and leave it for 15-20 mins on medium low flame.

  12. Check the batter is cooked well, with the help of toothpick from the centre.

  13. Insert the toothpick inside and take it out

  14. If it come out smooth, Switch off the flame and take the tin bowl out, your Dhokla is ready

  15. Keep the bowl upside down on a serving plate

  16. Allow it cool.

  17. The tin bowl will automatically come out

  18. Cut the dhokla in pieces


For Tadka


  1. Heat oil in a pan

  2. Add mustard seeds and allow it to crackle

  3. Add curry leaves and green chilies and sauté well for a min

  4. Add water as needed (be careful while adding water)

  5. Add sugar and bring it to boil


For Serving


  1. Add the tadka on the Dhokla.

  2. Garnish it with grated coconut

  3. Serve it with imli chutney and enjoy
