Ghiya Pulav

(Serves 2)




Ingredients


  1. 1 cup rice (washed and soaked in water)

  2. 1 cup grated bottlegourd (ghiya)

  3. 1 onion chopped

  4. 2 tomatoes chopped

  5. Salt to taste

  6. 1 tsp red chili powder

  7. 1 tsp coriander powder

  8. 1 tsp cumin seeds

  9. 2 tbsp oil/ ghee



Procedure



  1. Heat ghee in a cooker.

  2. Add cumin and let it crackle for a min or two.

  3. Add onions and mix well.

  4. Let it cook for 5 mins on low medium flame.

  5. Add tomatoes and mix well.

  6. Cook it for 5-7 mins on low medium flame.

  7. Add grated bottlegourd, give it a nice mix.

  8. Cook it for 3-4 mins.

  9. Add spices and mix well.

  10. Toss for a minute or two.

  11. Add rice and 2 cups of water.

  12. Stir it well.

  13. Cover it with a lid and give a whistle.

  14. Simmer it for 2-3 mins and Switch off the flame,


For Serving

Serve hot Ghiya Pulav with Curd or Raita.. Enjoy!!
