Sarso ka Saag

Ingredients


  1. 1 kg sarso (boiled)

  2. 4-5 tomatoes (roughly chopped)

  3. 3-4 green chilies

  4. 1 tsp grated ginger

  5. 7-8 red chilies

  6. 1/2 tsp asafetida

  7. 1.5 tsp cumin seeds

  8. Salt to taste

  9. 1 tsp red chili powder

  10. 1 tsp dry mango powder

  11. 1 tsp coriander powder

  12. 2-3 tbsp ghee


Procedure





  1. Take a grinder, add tomatoes, green chilies and sarso (boiled), grind it to smooth paste.

  2. Add the paste in cooker and cook for 9-10 mins.

  3. Add water (1-1.5 cup/s) and mix well.

  4. Take a pan separately, add ghee.

  5. Add cumin seeds and asafetida and cook for a min.

  6. Add grated ginger and cook for 2-3 mins.

  7. Add red chilies and cook further for 3-4 mins.

  8. Add spices and mix well.

  9. Add tadka in the cooker and mix well.

  10. Let it cook for 10-12 mins on low medium flame.



For Serving

Garnish Sarso ka Saag with ghee and enjoy with makki ki roti.


Ishri’s kitchen Tip

Add chopped garlic (7-8 garlic cloves) in tadka with ginger and enjoy garlic flavor too.
