(Serves 2)
Ingredients
2/3 cup urad dhuli dal (black gram skinned)
2-3 tomatoes finely chopped
2-3 green chilies finely chopped
1 tbsp grated ginger
1 tbsp grated garlic
Fresh coriander
1 tbsp mustard oil
Salt to taste
1 tsp black pepper or garam masala
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp red chili powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tbsp cumin seeds
1/2 tsp asafetida
Procedure
Soak dal for 20-30 mins.
Heat oil in cooker.
Add cumin seeds and asafetida, toss for a min.
Add grated garlic and sauté for a min or two.
Add ginger and sauté for 2-3 mins.
Add chopped tomatoes and cook for 5-7 mins.
Add spices and mix well.
Add dal (drained) and cook for 3-4 mins.
Add 1 cup water and cover it with lid.
Give 2 whistle and lower the flame for 5 mins.
For serving
Garnish it with fresh coriander, add some lemon juice and sprinkle some black pepper. Serve hot with phulka and enjoy
